Remapathyashtakam

(The octet of prayer addressed to Lord Vishnu who is the  consort of Lakshmi)

Jagadhadhi manadhi majam puroosham ,

Saradhambhara  thulya thanum vithanum,

Drutha kunja  radhanga  gadham vigadham,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    1

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is the primeval spirit  of the universe,

Who is  the one who does not have anything before him,

Who does not have birth , who is clear blue in colour,

Who does not have any body, who is armed with wheel ,mace and lotus,

And who is the one who is different and away from all diseases.

 

Kamalanana kanja ratham viratham,

Hrudhi yogi janai kulitham lalitham,

Kujanai sujanairlabham  sulabham,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    2

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is not attached and has love towards  the lotus face of Lakshmi,

Who is pretty  and meditated upon  by great sages,

Who is difficult to get for bad ones and easy to get for good ones.

 

Muni vrunda  hrudhistha  padam supadham ,

Nikhiladwara  bhaga bhujam subhujam,

Hrutha vasa va mukhya madham, viimadham,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    3

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is a good standing and has his feet in the heart of sages,

Who has a good hand and eats portions offered in fire sacrifices,

And who controlled pride of Indra and others and is pride less.

 

Hrutha dhanava  druptha  balam subalam,

Swajanaastha  samasthamalam vimalam,

Samapastha gajendra dharam  sudharam,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    4

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who has good strength and destroyed  the proud asuras,

Who is pure and destroyed all sins of his devotees,

And who carries good weapons  and destroyed the pride of Gajendra.

 

Pari kalpitha sarva kalam  vikalam ,

Sakalagama  Geetha gunam vigunam,

Bhava pasa nirakaranam  saranam,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    5

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is body less and has the form of all bodies,

Who is property less but has all properties sung about by Vedas,

Who gives protection but is beyond all attachments.

 

Mruthi janma jara samanam kamanam,

SAranagatha bheethi haram dhaharam,

Pari pushta maha hrudayam sudhayam,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    6

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is pretty and destroys birth, death and aging,

Who is without fear and destroys  the fear of those who surrender,

Who is a good heart  and is the one who is the great divine heart.

 

SAkalaavani bimbha dharam swadharam,

Pari poritha  sarvadi  sam sudrusam,

Gatha soka masoka karam  sudharam,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    7

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who wears himself as well as all the forms of this universe,

Who is good to look at and spread completely all over,

Who carries well and makes past sorrows in to happiness.

 

Madhi tharnava  raja rasam  sarasam,

Gradhi tha akhila loka hrudayam  suhrudham,

Pradhithadbutha  sakthi ganam  sugunam,

Pranamami Remadhipadhim  tham aham.                                    8

 

I salute the lord and consort of Goddess Lakshmi,

Who is entertaining and churned the ocean,

Who has a god heart and is the heart of every one,

Who is good natured  and has well known wonderful powers.

 

Sukha rasikaram bhava bandha haram,

Paramashtaka metha dhananya mathi,

Padathi hathuyoni samayvanaro,

Labhathe khalu  Vishnu padam saparam.                                       9

The man who reads with devotion this octet,

Which brings luck and destroys sorrows,

Without break and on all days,

Would get to reach the divine feet of Vishnu
